Board of Directors
The board of directors comprise 9 people and is headed by Mr John Onen since 2017 until now. Their roles and responsibilities include:
Governing the organization by establishing broad policies and setting out strategic objectives.
Selecting, appointing, supporting, and reviewing the performance of the management committee including President, Secretary and Treasurer
Termination of management committee
Approving annual budgets and ensuring the availability of adequate financial resources.
Setting the salaries, compensation, and benefits of senior management.
She was elected in 2012 to the position of chairperson role and then re-elected every two years up to now. Her main responsibilities include:
Providing leadership to the organisation
Ensuring the Management Committee functions properly
Ensuring the organisation is managed efficiently and effectively.
Providing support and supervision to the organisation management committee
Representing the organisation as its figurehead
Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted
Liaising with the Chair to plan meetings
Receiving agenda items from committee members
Circulating agendas and reports
Circulating approved minutes
Checking that agreed actions are carried out.
Communication and correspondence
Responding to all committee correspondence
filing all committee correspondence received and copies of replies sent
keeping a record of any of the organisation's publications
reporting the activities of the organisation and future programmes to members, the press and the public
Preparing a report of the organisation's activities for the year, for the Annual General Meeting.
Maintaining effective records and administration
Keeping up-to-date contact details for the management committee and ordinary members of the organisation.
Filing minutes and reports
Compiling lists of names and addresses that are useful to the organisation, including those of appropriate officials or officers of voluntary organisations.
Keeping a record of the organisation's activities
Keeping a diary of future activities
Upholding legal requirements
Acting as custodian of the organisation's governance documents
Checking quorum is present at meetings
Ensuring elections are in line with stipulated procedures
Ensuring organisation's activities are in line with its objects
Sitting on appraisal, recruitment, and disciplinary panels, as required.
General financial oversight
Oversee and present budgets, accounts, and financial statements to the management committee
Liaise with designated staff about financial matters
Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place
Ensure that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of funders or statutory bodies
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Financial planning and budgeting
Prepare and present budgets for new or ongoing work
Advise on financial implications of strategic and operational plans
Present revised financial forecasts based on actual spend.
Ensure effective monitoring and reporting
Financial reporting
Present regular reports on the organisation's financial position
Prepare accounts for audit and liaising with the auditor, as required
Present accounts at the AGM
Advise on the organisation's reserves and investment policy.
Funding, fundraising, and sales
Advise on the organisation's fundraising strategy
Ensure use of funds complies with conditions set by funding bodies
Ensure fundraising and sales complies with relevant legislation and is bound by effective financial systems and controls
Ensure effective monitoring and reporting
Banking, book-keeping, and record-keeping
Manage bank accounts
Set up appropriate systems for book-keeping, payments, lodgements & petty cash
Ensure everyone handling money keeps proper records and documentation
Control of fixed assets
Ensure proper records are kept
Ensure required insurances are in place
He was appointed in the position of project officer since 2012 until now. The roles and responsibilities include:
Ensuring processes and protocols are in place for compliance with all relevant legislation and ensure that risks are being managed.
Identifying assets and capacities within communities.
Recruiting and training paid and voluntary staff.
Making funding applications for the organisation.
Acting as a facilitator to promote self-help in the community.
Coordinating the delivery of services that contribute to improved outcomes for the community.
Engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders to foster and sustain partnerships.
Report writing, working with boards, advisory groups, and committees.
Assist with the monitoring of key project deliverables and key resource condition changes throughout the life of projects.
Develop and lead partnerships with the not for profit, private and government sectors to encourage and support new opportunities and solve local problems
Assist communities to utilise their own capacities and support systems to be active participants in the community
